Eugene Celebration Cycling Classic SEPTEMBER 15th & 16th Produced by Downtown Events Management, Inc Sponsored by: Russ Humberston Automotive Group: RussAuto.com Beaverton Toyota Russ Chevrolet Saturn of Salem/Beaverton Prize List: $2500 ALL CASH 2001 Race Details: · The Eugene Celebration Cycling Classic is organized as part of the 3-day Eugene Celebration Festival produced by Downtown Events Management, Inc. · Oregon Bicycle Race Association (OBRA) Event · OBRA B.A.R. Race · Final race of the OBRA Oregon Cup Race Series on Sunday, September 16th for the Women and Pro/1/2 Men. · Juniors (18 and under) race is a 1-day/2-event omnium point format. Awards will be given at end of Stage 2(Saturday, Sept. 15th). · Masters 35+ race is a 2-day/3-event omnium point format. Awards will be given at end of Stage 3, Sunday, Sept. 16th. · Pro/1/2, Cat. 3, Cat. 4/5 and Women are timed stage race events (new for 2001!). · Women's event will track Cat. 4 and Masters 35+ Women for B.A.R. but only prize 1 group. · Prize list distribution and breakdown of points/time bonuses for all categories is in race bible. Stage 1: Cottage Grove Lake Road Race - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th Cottage Grove Lake, Cottage Grove 10:00am Pro/1/2 7 laps 59.5 Miles/95.7Km 10:10 Cat. 3 6 laps 51 Miles/82Km 10:20 Women 5 lap 42.5 Miles/68.3Km 12:20 Cat. 4/5 5laps 42.5 Miles/68.3Km 12:25 Masters Men 35+ 5 laps 42.5 Miles/68.3Km 12:30 Juniors (18 and under) 4 laps 34 Miles/54.7Km Start/Finish: Lakeside Parking Lot Course: Flat to rolling country roads with good to excellent pavement. Race Course uses following roads: Cottage Grove Res. Rd, and London Rd. Directions: From Eugene, head south on I-5 to exit 172 (Cottage Grove Lake). Exit 172 is the 2nd Cottage Grove exit. NOTE: If you miss it, you will have to travel south approx. 10miles to another exit. Turn left onto S 6th st. S 6th st. becomes London Rd. and precede approx. 5 miles. Follow the signs to the parking area called Lakeside (north end of lake). Allow approx. 30 minutes travel time from Eugene. Stage 2: Cottage Grove Lake Time Trial - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH Cottage Grove Lake, Cottage Grove ***First rider off at 4:00PM---The TT will follow the same start order as the morning's road race schedule*** Course: Flat to rolling country roads with good to excellent pavement. 7.5 miles (less than the RR loop). Start/Finish will be near the staging area of the road race. Directions: Same as the road race, Cottage Grove Lake and Lakeside parking area. Stage 3: Lorane Valley Road Race - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH Twin Oaks/Bailey Hill 10:00AM Pro/1/2 5 laps 72.5 Miles/116.6Km 10:10 Cat. 3 4 laps 58 Miles/93.3Km 10:15 Women 3 laps 43.5 Miles/70Km 12:30 Cat. 4/5 3 laps 43.5 Miles/70Km 12:45 Masters Men 35+ 3 laps 43.5 Miles/70Km Start/Finish: Twin Oaks School (on Bailey Hill Rd.) Course: New Course! 2.5mile climb, with 4 mile rolling descent. Rest of course is rolling hills with some flat sections. Good to excellent pavement. Course is 14.5 miles and uses following roads: Lorane Rd., McBeth Rd., Lower Fox Hollow Rd. and Lorane Hwy. Race Directions: FROM I-5 NORTH: Take the exit, exit number 195B, towards Santa Clara/Florence. Merge onto Beltline Hwy W. Beltline Hwy W becomes Beltline Rd. Turn left onto West 11th. Then, turn right onto S. Bertelsen Rd. Bertelsen becomes Bailey Hill Rd. FROM 1-5 SOUTH; Take the I-105 W, exit 194B, towards Eugene. Take the OR-99 N exit towards W. Eugene/Florence. Merge onto W 6TH Ave. Turn left onto Garfield St. Turn right onto W 11TH Ave. Turn right left onto S. Bertelsen Rd, Bertelsen becomes Bailey Hill Rd. Allow approx. 20 minutes travel from Eugene. Pre-Registration is helpful and suggested, however there are NO LATE FEES. A Race bible will be sent to pre-registered and/or extras will be available at registration. Racers will be issued a race bible and packet with additional information after all registration requirements have been met. Pro/1/2, Women, Cat. 3, and Cat. 4/5 races are timed events and therefore, all riders must complete each stage to be in General Classification. Race Director reserves the right to combine or split groups. All OBRA racing rules apply. ANSI approved helmets required. Entrants under 18 must have a parent or guardians sign a release.
