We had a couple of people asking for travel times and if we could resend the directions. Laurelwood Academy staging is 5 miles from Gaston, Oregon and is approx. 15 minutes from the Hagg Lake park entrance so it's a bit shorter than the drive to Banana Belt (about 40 - 45 minutes from PDX depending on your route choice). From Forest Grove take Hwy47 south to Laurelwood Rd. in Gaston take a left and follow the main road to Laurelwood Rd. then on to Laurelwood Academy. From Newberg take Hwy 219 North to Bald Peak Rd. and follow it 5 miles to the park (the finish). Drive 2 miles past that to the Bald Peak/Laurelwood Rd intersection and take a left down the hillto take a look at the climb. From Tigard/Beaverton take Farmington to the 219 intersection, left for 100m then a right on Laurel Rd. Take a right at the "Y" onto Bald Peak Rd and up to the intersection with Laurelwood Rd. (right turn permitted without stopping). Down the hill to the start. FYI: If you go straight instead of turning right down the hill it is 2.1 miles up to the finish. |
