Hi,

April updates on the Elkhorn Classic Stage Race June 20th-22nd, 2003 in Baker City, Oregon. The web page has been updated with photos, the 2003 Race Bible, links and all of the information you may need. www.Elkhornclassic.com


Registration closes June 14th or when each field limit reaches 100 riders.

Who is coming?

Men Pro 1/2: The Elkhorn is on the Broadmark elite calendar. Though Geoffrey Burndred will not be back to defend his title, racing in Europe, the team will be. Saturn of Bellevue, Trek Volkswagen, and many other top teams will be battling it out for the prize money. California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho are currently represented. 2002 field size 86.

Men 3/4: There are currently 71 riders registered in this field. Do not wait to much longer to register. Team Swift from Boulder Colorado, Ti Cycles from Washington, Half Fast velo from Portland, and Five Valley Velo from Montana, just to mention a few, are already signed up and ready to race. 2002 field size 100.

Masters 40+: This was a great field last year and Brain McGuire from California said he will be back with his team to defend his title! He will have to take on a very strong Team Clif Bar and many proven Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana riders this year for a repeat. 2002 field size 68.

Women: Heather Albert of Team Goldy's from Idaho will be back to defend her title in 2003. Many of the California, Washington, and Oregon women's peleton have already committed to the 2003 Elkhorn! 2002 field size 63.

Family Fun: The Shimano Youth Series will be sponsoring the kid's racing on Saturday from 1-3 in downtown Baker City. Medals for all participants, T-shirts to the first 50 registered at the event. Categories from training wheels to 12 years of age.

Free Hot dogs and homemade pie Saturday at 6:00PM in downtown Baker City for riders, spectators and anybody else watching the racing.

Fire Works display 9:45Pm Saturday night at the sports complex in Baker City.

The Elkhorn Classic Stage Race has been selected as a national points race for the Federation of Independent Cycling Associations (FICA) for all categories except the 40+. See this link for details.
